Hi Justin. I was referred to you by Carmen Galvan, who says that you use Galvan reels pretty heavily. I'm in the market for a reel to match with a 12-weight rod, primarily for tarpon but capable of going for sailfish (I'm going to Costa Rica in February). Is the Torque 12 a reliable tarpon reel?

Thanks.

Hello John,

I have been using the Torque reels exclusively since their conception.
These reels are extremely durable and dependable. Last year I landed at least 100 tarpon on the t-12 and t-10. Lately we have been fishing offshore and catching several blackfin tunas and false albacore. These reels handle everything beautifully. The drag system is excellent for landing large fish on light tippets and can hold enough backing for everything I fish for here in the keys including Sailfish and large sharks.

Another thing I like in these reels is that I can carry extra spools with different lines for all types of conditions. For traveling you can't beat this option. Removing and adding the spools is very simple and I have had no
problems with them since I started using them. I am sure you will enjoy using the Torque reels. Sincerely,

Capt. Justin Rea

Last summer I purchased my first Galvan reel from Gallatin River Guides in Big Sky, Montana. Over the past year and a half, it has provided me with consistent, unmatched performance. I own several reels from an array of companies, and my Galvan OB-3 reel out performs every other. First, it is a perfectly weighted reel that balances with four and five weight fly lines. As well, the large arbor has immaculate line release and performs perfectly on a long running fish. I have found the drag system to be the pinnacle of its performance. For those who prefer drag to palming, the drag, control is simple in use and perfect in action. As well, the smooth drag control has worked perfectly in every fish I have hooked. Its consistent drag pressure has never slipped or caused increase line tension even with increasing line release. I find the drag system to out-perform any drag system I have ever used or purchased. I have used the OB-3 reel from Connecticut to Montana to New Zealand. It is perfectly suited to the large powerful New Zealand fish, and has performed equally on the Madison Browns and Gallatin Rainbows. As well, I plan to take the reel to Upper Chuluut Mongolia to use on Lenok. I wanted to praise you for such perfection, and I will continue to recommend your product to all fly enthusiasts. Lastly, I look forward to using more Galvan reels.

Dear guys,
Since people are generally very quick to complain, I thought I would try to be as quick to praise. I sent my trusty OB 4 reel to you for repair on Monday when I returned from New Zealand. I just got a brand new reel by Fed Ex today. That service is nothing short of extraordinary; equal to the amazing quality of your reels. I am so impressed. Tight Lines, Thanks, Tom
